Dry Ice Cleaning

Marine Engine Room Restoration Using Dry Ice

Marine_Engine_Room_Restoration

We recently completed a specialised dry ice blasting project aboard a fishing vessel, delivering high-quality results across several critical components. The work focused on cleaning four alternators—three located in the main engine room and one in the forward section of the vessel—as well as the external surfaces of the main engine to enhance overall presentation.

Dry ice blasting continues to prove itself as a highly effective and modern cleaning solution within marine and industrial environments. Unlike traditional methods, it removes contaminants without the use of water or chemicals, making it particularly suitable for sensitive electrical components. The process is non-abrasive, generates no secondary waste, and significantly reduces downtime—key advantages in operational settings where efficiency and safety are essential.

The outcome of this project was excellent. Built-up dirt, grease, and residue were thoroughly removed, restoring clean, well-maintained surfaces throughout. Beyond the immediate visual improvement, the cleaning contributes to better equipment performance, easier maintenance, and extended asset lifespan.

A clean engine room is not just about aesthetics; it plays a vital role in reliability and operational efficiency. This project highlights how advanced cleaning techniques like dry ice blasting can support long-term performance in demanding marine environments.
